Kelleen C. Fitzgerald, M.D., P.C.
Dr. Fitzgerald brings back to medical care all that has been eroding in this industry over the past few decades — equal parts of professionalism, unhurried time for her patients, and genuine, below-the-surface interest in their medical journey that is both academic and personal. She is never rushed, never unavailable, never forgets an issue or a question or a conversation pertaining to my care. Together with her staff, carefully chosen to support her professional mantra, she has composed a team that never puts the “system” before the patient. Medically I trust and respect her; personally I simply like her enormously and feel fortunate to be in her care.

In 2015, Dr. Kelleen Fitzgerald embarked on a new endeavor by opening The Atlanta Internists, a Direct Primary Care membership practice along with Dr. James Capó.
From 1999 through 2014, Dr. Fitzgerald practiced with Internal Medicine Associates of Atlanta. Previously on staff with the Emory Clinic in Atlanta, she was an Associate Professor (1997-99) practicing medicine within the Primary Care Network. Her medical interests include women's health, especially menopause and bone health/osteoporosis.
Dr. Fitzgerald received her undergraduate degree, Summa Cum Laude and Masters of Arts in English from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. There, she was elected Phi Beta Kappa. Subsequently she graduated from Tufts University School of Medicine, in Boston, Mass., in 1994. Dr. Fitzgerald completed her Internal Medicine internship and residency at Emory University in Atlanta. She is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and is a member of the National Lipid Association.

Originally from Louisiana, Dr. Fitzgerald graduated high school in Atlanta from Marist School. She lives in Sandy Springs with her husband and younger son, who is a high school senior and recently became an Eagle Scout. Their older son lives in Ohio and was married in 2022. Their daughter lives in Washington, D.C., where she works as a consultant.
Outside of her busy medical practice, Dr. Fitzgerald is an active member of the Marist Alumni Association and also commits her time and expertise to the Mercy Care mission. She volunteers one night a month, taking her style of compassionate medical care to the homeless population of Atlanta with Mercy Care’s Street Medicine team.
