March 2018: Metabolic Syndrome, Diabetes & Pre-Diabetes

Thank you to Ashley Harrison, RDN, CDE, who joined us for a full question-and-answer session regarding all things diabetes.  She uses a positive approach of "what you can eat, not what you can’t" and, of course, moderation. Our patients asked some impressive questions!

Tips…
  • Use a 9 inch plate for meals, most plates now are 12’.
  • A dark colored plate has shown to decrease consumption.
  • Divide your dinner plate into quarters: two quarters veggies, one quarter complex carbs, one quarter lean protein.
  • Increase activity.
  • Limit alcohol.
  • Breakfast is super important.

If you weren't able to join us, please click below to review a document detailing risk factors and prevention tips from the National Diabetes Education Program.
