In January 2015, Dr. James Capó and Dr. Kelleen Fitzgerald opened a Direct Care Membership Practice to provide a more personalized experience for our patients. After decades of dedicated service to his patients and our community, Dr. Capó will be retiring at the end of this year. His wisdom, kindness, and commitment have left an enduring mark throughout his career and here at The Atlanta Internists, LLC.
We are happy to announce that Dr. Dhaval Desai will be joining The Atlanta Internists effective October 1, 2025. Dr. Desai and Dr. Capó will be working together October - December to ensure a smooth transition of patient care. The Atlanta Internists will continue as it always has, by limiting our size to enhance the medical services we provide and to give our members the time and attention they deserve. This personal level of health care offers benefits beyond today's typical "traditional" system. Understanding the dynamics of an individual’s health issues, family issues, risks and possible exposures are all important in providing the highest level of care. A Direct Care Membership Practice adds depth to the patient-physician partnership and allows us to decide on the best treatment plan together. Our goal is to manage and anticipate your unique healthcare needs and to provide comprehensive primary care in a relaxed setting at an unhurried pace. We will partner with you on a personal level to help you achieve the optimal health we all value. We will closely collaborate on what it takes to stay on the path to wellness. Dr. Dhaval Desai is thrilled to be joining The Atlanta Internists. Dr. Desai has been a respected physician in our community for nearly 15 years, serving as a Hospitalist and the Director of Hospital Medicine at Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital. He is dual board-certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics and is deeply passionate about building lasting relationships with his patients.
